Pillar candles add a stylish touch of elegance to your home and even to your dinner table as part of a centerpiece. I have seen then used before on the tables at wedding receptions in the colors of the wedding. It was very appealing. Pillar candles come in all colors and scents. They are called pillars because they are round and tall like a pillar. There is no standard size though, as pillar candles come in many widths and heights. Occasionally, pillar candles are found with a unique design such as a ridge on the top and bottom.

Making pillar candles is quite simple. This type of candle is one of the most common for candle makers to indulge in. To make pillar candles, you will need molds. You can find them in all sizes at most craft stores. You can also get them online. Many online auction sites including Ebay and Yahoo offer several pillar candle molds for one great price. These molds can be found make of silicon, aluminum, or plastic. For best results, choose pillar candle molds that are made of aluminum. They allow the wax to cooler better, resulting in a smooth finish on the candles. They are also very durable.

To get started, decide on the size of candles you want to make and how many. There are charts in candle making books and on the internet that can help you determine how many pounds of candle wax you will need to complete your project. You will also need dye to color the candles and fragrances if you wish to add that to your candles.

You will need quality wick to make pillar candles. The wider the candle you will be making, the wider wick you want. To make this easier, simply purchase a standard type of wick. You can braid three pieces together to make a thicker wick for wider candles. Many of the pillar candle molds have a wick holder built. In simply slide a wick the diameter of the whole into it and eliminate the guess work. Make sure you dip the wick into the melted wax before attaching it to the candle mold. Keeping the wick in place can be tricky. A good trip is to cut the wick several inches longer than you need. Then tie it to a pencil or skewer sitting across the top of the candle mold. This will ensure the wick is centered as the candle begins the cooling process.

Once your candle wax is at the proper temperature, add in anything you want to be including in your candle including dye, scents, and additives. Immediately after, pour the hot wax into the pillar candle molds. Do not pour wax all the way to the top of the mold. You want to leave about four or five inches unfilled.

While for most candles you make, leave the candles to cool. Pillar candles need some further assistance during the cooling process. Once the top of the wax has started to become solid, you will need to add small relief holes to help with shrinkage. If you don’t create the relief holes your candles will get air pockets that keep them from hardening properly.

Once the candles have completely cooled, pour melted wax into the holes you created on the candle. Make sure the wax is about fifteen degrees hotter than what you had the wax at the first time you poured it. Allow the candle to completely cool down again. Your candles should slide out of the molds easily. If they don’t put them in the refrigerator for half an hour. Your candles should be smooth and beautiful. Make sure to trim the wick and you are ready to burn your pillar candles.

Pillar candles are beautiful. The simple design fits well with the décor in any room of your home. These candles make excellent gifts and center pieces. Pillar candles are easy to make and the supplies are inexpensive. This makes pillar candle making an excellent project, hobby, or money making project. Pillar candles burn for hours, ensuring you will get hours of enjoyment from your endeavors.

Making Chunk Candles

Chunk candles add a great alternative to the standard pillar candle of yesterday. These colorful candles add a vibrancy and life to them. Looking at chunk candles, they appear to be very difficult to make. However, just the opposite is true. In fact, many candle makers claim they are easier to make than basic pillar candles. This is because pillar candles have to be perfectly smooth. If they aren’t, it is easy to see the visual defect. Such blemishes aren’t visible in chunk candles. While chunk candles aren’t recommended as a beginner project, they can be made once you know the basics of the candle making process. 

There are two phases to making chunk candles. To make the process easier, it is recommended that you keep the two separate. Attempts to cut corners often result in chunk candles that are of poor quality and don’t burn well. The first phase of the project is making the chunks. The second is the process of turning those chunks into gorgeous candles. Some individuals choose to purchase pre-cut chunks at craft stores or online.

To make your candles their prettiest, select colors that compliment each other. To start making the color chunks, spray a cookie sheet with a non-stick cooking spray. You only want a thin film on the cooking sheet. After the wax you are using has completely melted, add a color to it as well as any fragrance you want. Pour the mix onto the cookies sheet. Fill the sheet to the level you want the depth of your candle chunks to be. 

Keep an eye on the cooling color chunks. Once it is the consistency of cookie dough you will want to use a sharp utility knife to cut it into chunks. Allow the chunks to continue cooling. If you are making several colors of chunks you can mix them together or leave them separate. Some people choose to let the colors mix together on their own while others like to create a design by adding the amount of each color they want.

Using the same molds that are used for pillar candles, insert your candle wick through the bottom of the candle mold. Fill the mold loosely with color chunks. You can put one color on the bottom with another color on top or even layers of three colors. You can also use only one color. The choice is all yours. Do not stack as many chunks as you can in the mold or the candle won’t form properly. Just toss them in and let them lay where they end up. 

You are now ready to pour the melted wax over the color chunks. It is recommended that you do leave the melted wax colorless, but some people choose to add a light color to tint it and add a uniqueness to their chunk candles. As the candle cools, the chunks will adhere to together with the hot wax. Once the molds cool the chunk candles should slide out with ease. 

Making chunk candles is really quite simple if you have the basic candle making concepts under your belt. These candles add flare to any décor as well as make great gifts. They are a bit more time consuming to make since you will be making your color chunks, but well worth the results. Remember that you can purchase color chunks to save you time. That is a great option for someone who plans to make large quantities of chunk candles. 

For those who want to get even more creative, consider using embeds on the sides. You can place them in the candle molds first. They will stay in place once you put the chunks in the mold. You can adjust the embeds as needed prior to adding the hot wax to the mold. There are excellent books available on the various patterns and embeds you can add to make specific chunk candles. There are also great pictures and step by step instructions available on the internet.

How to Watch a Formula D Racing Event

Formula D Racing; if you are a race fan, there is a good chance that you have heard of it before. Although Formula D is considered to be racing, there is a lot more than racing that is involved.  In fact, drifting is important; thus, the alternative name for Formula D Racing. That alternative name is known as Formula Drifting.  If you are a fan of drifting or if you would like to learn more about the sport, there is a good chance that you would be interested in watching an event.  If this is the case, you have a number of different options.

Perhaps, the best way to watch a Formula D Racing event is live, in person.  Each year, the Formula D Racing series travels to a number of different tracks.  In 2006, these events took place in Long Beach, Atlanta, Chicago, Sonoma, Seattle, Wall, and Irwindale.  As Formula Drifting continues to increase in popularity, there is a good chance that additional locations will be added on to the series.  However, until that time, you may have to have access to one of the previously mentioned cities to watch a live Formula D Racing event.  In the event that you are able to attend a Formula D event, you are advised to.  With most tickets being only around twenty dollars, you will find that it is an affordable and exciting way to spend your day.

As nice as it would be to watch a live Formula D Racing event, you may not have the ability to do so.  As previously mentioned, these races only take place in a few different areas.  Unfortunately, only a select number of states, such as Georgia, California, Washington, Illinois, and New Jersey currently host Formula D events.  Essentially, this means that unless you live in these states, there is a good chance that you would be unable to attend a live event.  However, that does not mean that you cannot enjoy the sport.  It does, however, mean that you will have to find a different way to watch it.  One of those ways involves your television.

A large number of sporting groups, including Formula Drift, have made the decision to partner with a specific television network or a number of them. Formula Drift made the decision to partner with G4TV, otherwise known as G4. This popular television network airs a number of Formula D Racing events, as well as applicable programming.  This means that, in addition to watching coverage of racing events, you can also go behind the scenes at a Formula D Racing event or even in the pits.  Watching Formula D Racing on television may not be as great as seeing it live, in person, but it is just as good. In fact, watching Formula D Racing on television is a nice alternative for those who are unable to travel to live events.

You could also not only watch a Formula D Racing event, but learn more about the sport, by renting or buying movies.  A fairly large number of videos, with a focus on Formula Drifting, have been created.  These videos may include movies on the sport, coverage of past events, or instructional videos on the art of drifting.  If you are unable to attend a live drifting event and you do not have access to G4TV, you will find that these videos are nice to own or even rent.  To purchase or rent these videos, you are encouraged to look online or at your local video rental store.

In all sports, fans have a favorite.  In many cases, this favorite is often referred to as a player, but with Formula D, otherwise known as Formula Drifting, these players are, in fact, drivers.  If you are a fan of Formula D, there is a good chance that you already have a favorite driver.  If not, you are encouraged to select one.  Having a favorite driver will, in most cases, make the sport more interesting and even more fun to watch. 

When it comes to selecting a favorite Formula Drifting driver, you will find that you have a number of different options.  Formula Drifting is a popular sport and you can easily tell that by the number of drivers who turn out for the events. While the numbers vary, depending on the competition, Formula D can have as many as forty to fifty drivers turn out, just for one event.  Of course, you are advised to select your own favorite driver, but if you don’t know where to start, you are advised to famialrize yourself with some of the most popular names in Formula Drifting.

Perhaps, one of the most popular Formula D drivers is that of Rhys Millen.  Millen’s career has been one of the best, since the establishment of Formula Drift.  Originally born in New Zealand, Millen is known as one of the top drifters in all of the United States. In fact, he is also known all around the world.  In addition to being a top contender in the Formula Drift series, Millen is also known for his work in a number of different movies.  He appeared in the “The Fast and the Furious:  Tokyo Drift,” as himself.  He was also a stunt driver for the popular “Dukes of Hazard,” movie.

Although Rhys Millen may be known as one of the best drifters around, he is not the only well-known driver involved in the sport.  In fact, Samuel Hubinette is just as popular.  Hubinette was the 2004 Formula Drift champion and his success has continued since then.  Originally from Sweden, this popular driver who is commonly referred to as “Crazy Swede,” now resides in California.

Unlike a fairly large number of other professional Formula D drivers, Chris Forsberg is American born. In fact, he is originally from Furlong, Pennsylvania.  What is unique about his venture is that, for the most part, drifting is relatively unheard of in other areas of the United States. The sport, which was and is still the most popular sport in Japan, made its way to California, mostly with in underground scene.  Although Forsberg was from the other side of the country, he has been able to compete, successfully, with some drivers who, essentially, grew up around drifting.  

Chris Forsberg, mentioned above, is part of a drifting team known as the Drift Alliance. This team also comprises of a number other popular drivers.  A couple of who are also originally from the east cost.  These drivers include Vaughn Gittin Jr., Ryan Hampton, and Tony Angelo.  All of these drivers are popular, due to their drifting talents, but the team that they belong to has skyrocketed these drivers into popularity. The Drift Alliance is one of the most well known drifting teams in the United States, actually in the entire world for that matter.

The above mentioned Formula Drift drivers are just a few of the many. As previously mentioned, a fairly large number of drivers compete in professional events. By watching a live drifting event or by watching coverage on G4TV, you should be able to familiarize yourself with these popular drivers, as well as the many others.

Formula D Racing, otherwise known as Formula Drifting, is a fun and exciting sport; however, it is a sport that is relatively new to the United States.  Although Formula D Racing is already popular in Japan; in fact, it has been for a while, its popularity is just starting to grow in the United States.  For that reason, there is a good chance that you may not even know what Formula D Racing is.  If you do happen to know what it is, you may want to learn more.  If that is the case, you are in luck. There are a number of different ways that you can learn more about Formula Drifting.

Perhaps, the best way that you famialrize yourself with Formula D Racing is by using the internet.  Online, you will find a fairly large number of websites that offer information on Formula Drifting.  The best way to find these websites is by performing a standard internet search. When searching, you may want to use the words Formula D, Formula Drifting, or drifting.  Your search will likely return links to a number of different websites. These websites may have general information on drifting, information on how to drift, or information on professional Formula D drivers.

In addition to using the internet, you can also learn more about Formula D Racing through books.  Since Formula D is a fairly popular sport, even though its popularity is fairly new in the United States, there are a large number of books on this sport.  These books, like the above mentioned online websites, may focus on Formula D Racing in general, give you tips on how to drift like the professionals, or whole books may even be devoted to professional Formula D drivers.  If you are looking to purchase printed resources on Formula Drifting, you can either do so online or at your local book store.

Formula Drifting in Japan

Professional drifting was first officially created in United States in 2003, although it is sometimes said 2004.  The Formula Drift Championship was created by Formula Drift, Inc. Although professional drifting is still considered a new sport in the United States, it is not new in Japan. In fact, drifting has always been popular in Japan, as in the United States, long before a professional series was developed. In Japan, that professional series is known as the D1 Grand Prix.

The D1 Grand Prix, also commonly referred to as Professional Drift or D1GP, was founded in 2000.  It has one of the first professional drifting organizations in the entire world. In fact, its early development had led it to be known as one of the most well known, most popular, and most trusted of all drifting organizations.  It has been said that all other professional drifting organizations or series turn to the D1 Grand Prix for guidance and more information on the sport.

The D1 Grand Prix was so popular in Japan that is skyrocketed the popularity of drifting. In fact, a large number of fans wanted to become drifters, themselves.  Unfortunately, competition in the D1 Grand Prix was an expense that not many could afford. That was why the D1 Street Legal, also commonly known as D1SL, series was created.  Unlike the D1 Grand Prix, which has a large number of rules and regulations, the D1 Street Legal series, which was created in 2005, allows the use of traditional street cars, or road vehicles.  This only increased the popularity and the appeal of drifting in Japan, as well as in other areas of the world.

The D1 Grand Prix was created as a Japanese drifting series; however, it would later leave Japan. Although most of the events still take place in Japan, a fairly large number of events have been hosted outside of the country. Some of these events were hosted in the United States. In fact, when the D1 Grand Prix came to the United States, for the first time, they visited the Irwindale Speedway, in California.  It has long been said that event was what helped to spark the development of a professional drifting series in the United States.  In addition to the Formula Drift Championship, the D1 Grand Prix USA also exists; however, it is globally run. This means that not all competitions take place in the United States.

In addition to making its way into the United States, the D1 Grand Prix also made its way into Europe.  This just recently occurred in the year 2005.  Although the sport of drifting has been professional for only a short period of time in Europe, it is apparent that it is just as popular. The fan turn out for the first D1 Grand Prix event in Europe was larger than what was originally anticipated.  That is one of the seasons why a D1 Grand Prix Series was also developed in Europe, as it was in the United States.

As previously mentioned, drifting existed in the United States before the professional Formula Drift Championship was established.  However, the establishment of this championship series has not only made the sport more popular, but more enjoyable as well.  Despite the fact that drifting did already exist in the United States, there is a good chance that without the influence of the D1 Grand Prix, professional drifting still may not exist today.

Formula Drifting is a sport that first rose to popularity in Japan. While it is often termed as racing, there is actually little to no racing involved in the sport.  Formula D involves taking a car, one that is ideal for drifting, and using certain driving techniques to cause the car to lose traction and drift. The goal is to keep control of the car and steer it to victory. Victory is, almost always, decided by a panel of judges, who are experienced in the art of drifting.

Drifting sounds exciting, doesn’t it?  Since it first came to the United States, drifting has rapidly increased in popularity, with all different types of individuals.  Unfortunately, drifting is often referred to as a male dominated sport. That is because, in the past and still sometimes today, men where mostly the competitors.  The problem with this is that, as previously mentioned, all different individuals enjoy the sport of drifting, including women. In addition to enjoying the sport as a spectator, many women also wish to compete in it.  If you are woman who is interested in Formula Drifting, you may be wondering what to do.

Despite what you may believe or may have been told, women do not have to stand on the sidelines or be a spectator in the stands. If you are interested in drifting, whether it be on a professional level or an amateur level, you have every right to enjoy the sport. Essentially, this means that if you want to participate in drifting, go right ahead.  Not only do you deserve the right to participate in it, but you may even be better at it than you had originally anticipated.

Formula D Racing, also commonly referred as a Formula Drifting, is a popular sport. That sport has recently started gaining popularity in the United States. In fact, a few years ago, a professional drifting series was created. This group of drivers and the series that they race in is sometimes referred to the Formula Drift Championship.  In the Formula Drift Championship, around fifty drivers compete to be known as the best professional drifter in the United States. Like all other professional racing events, these events take place in a series of different locations, namely professional race tracks.

When it comes to all racing events, including Formula D Racing, you will find that it is hard to examine all of the different racing venues.  This is because they tend to change. As Formula D continues to rise in popularity, there is a good chance that additional tracks will be added, in the years to come.  However, you if you interested in learning more about the tracks which have already hosted an event, you are advised to pick a season and research those specific venues. For this article, we will focus on the 2006 Formula Drifting season.

Atlanta, Georgia is one of the stops on the Formula Drifting series.  Their events take place on Road Atlanta.  Road Atlanta is known as one of the best road courses in the United States.  In fact, it is also known on a worldly level.  In 2004, the staff at Road Atlanta added another horseshoe turn just for the Formula Drifting series.  This new paved turn helps to add extra excitement to the events being hosted at Road Atlanta.  In addition to Formula D Racing, Road Atlanta is also home to a number of other popular racing events. These events include, but are not limited to the AMA Suzuki Superbike Showdown, the Audi Driving Experience, and the Kevin Schwantz Suzuki School.

The Formula Drift series also makes a stop in Sonoma, California.  That stop is to the Infineon Raceway.  The Infineon Raceway is popular due to its location.  It is located near the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco; in fact, it is located only thirty miles from there.  In addition to the Formula Drift series, the Infineon Raceway is also home to a number of other popular racing events. These events include, but are not limited to, NASCAR, drag racing, and the AMA Superbike tour.

Unlike the above mentioned tracks, Formula Drifting also takes place at Solider Field in Chicago, Illinois.  If you are familiar with Soldier Field, the football stadium, you may be wondering how drifting can take place there.  Despite what you may believe, the event does not actually take place inside the stadium; instead it takes place outside of it, in the parking lot.  During the Formula Drift event, the lot is transformed into an amazing drifting course.  Although it may not be on a track, the excitement is still the same, if not better.  One of the reasons why this event is so popular is because, aside from New Jersey, Formula D Racing usually does not usually come up to the mid or upper north east area.

In addition to the above mentioned venues, the Formula Drift series also makes stops in Long Beach and Irwindale, California, Seattle, Washington, and Wall, New Jersey.  In Wall, New Jersey, the action takes place at the Air Force Reserve Wall Speedway.  In Long Beach California, the action takes place in the Streets of Long Beach.  In Irwindale, California, the events take place at the Irwindale Speedway.  As you can see, a number of these events are hosted at well-known racetracks and others are hosted in other locations, such as city streets or parking lots.

Are you a fan of Formula D Racing?  If you are, there is a good chance that you will enjoy watching the sport, just about any chance that you get.  Unfortunately, like many other sports, Formula D Racing, also commonly referred to as Formula Drifting, only takes place at certain times and on certain courses. For that reason, you may find it difficult to get your drifting fix. If this is the case, you do not have to worry; you will find that you have a number of different ways to watch Formula D Racing or other drifting programs.

When you think of drifting programs or Formula D events, that are not live, what is the first thing that comes to your mind?  If you are like many other Americans, you would respond with television.  Recently, the Formula D Series partnered with G4TechTv, also commonly referred to as G4TV.  This popular television channel is most commonly known as a gaming channel. One of the reasons why Formula D is shown on this television station is due to the fact that Formula D or Formula Drifting is sponsored by the game Need for Speed. This is the connecting link between drifting and this popular television gaming network.

As nice as it would be to watch programs on Formula D, not everyone is able to. This is because the G4 channel is often perceived as a specialty channel.  It is not available with all cable or satellite programming packages. In fact, to gain access to this channel, many cable and satellite providers need to purchase one of the highest costing programming packages.  Unfortunately, this is something that not everyone can afford.  However, if you do have access to a computer and the internet, you can still enjoy Formula D Racing programs.  You can do this by using iTunes.

If you have the internet, watch television, or listen to the radio, there is a good chance that you have heard of iTunes before.  iTunes is a program that is created by Apple.  It allows you to legally download short movies, podcasts, music videos, as well as music.  One of the podcasts that you can find on iTunes is centered on Formula Drifting. These podcasts are presented by G4.  What is nice about these podcasts, unlike many of the other items that can be found on iTunes, is that they are free.  Essentially, this means that you can easily view these podcasts, without having to pay a thing.

Once you have iTunes installed on your computer, you should be able to use the search feature to find Formula Drifting podcasts. You may want to search with the words Formula D, Formula Drifting, or Drifting.  Once the results are displayed, you should be able to find a number of results.  G4 is planning on adding additional podcasts, but currently you can find twelve podcasts that are available for viewing.  These podcasts not only include clips from recent drifting events, but they also have other focuses.  You can find information on the cars cooling systems, as well as information on the drivers. The length of each podcast varies, but most are around two minutes long.

If you don’t already have iTunes installed on your computer, you will need to install the program.  You can easily obtain the download file for this program by visiting www.itunes.com.  Like the Formula Drifting podcasts, you will also find that it is free to download and install iTunes on your computer. The only time that you will be charged is if you make the decision to purchase other entertainment items, such as a music album.  Other than purchasing other items, which are clearly labeled for sale, it is completely free to view Formula D podcasts, which, as previously mentioned, are presented by G4TV.

Wine, which is a drink we all know and love, is produced from fruits such as grapes and berries by drying and then fermenting them.  Once the fruits ferment, the sugar within the fruit will turn into alcohol.  The wine will display a different color, taste, and aroma depending on the type of fruit that it was made from.

During the beginning stages of wine making, the grapes or other fruit is crushed by a large cylindrical container that will deflate the juicy parts of the fruit into large bags that are attached to the machine.  Next, the juicy part of the fruit is fermented through the use of heat.  During this part of the process, present yeast will help to convert the sugar into alcohol.  Once the sugars start to break down into alcohol, the wine will get a buttery flavor.

Next, is the settling.  Settling involves the yeast cells or any other type of material flowing near the top of the wine.  Once it is at the top, it is then filtered with all sediments being gathered on the filter.  Aging is next, which is where the wine is tightly packed away in special contains that won’t allow any contact with air for months - sometimes even years.  Once the wine has been aged, it is transferred into smaller bottlers then shipped out and sold.
